I had such a blast hosting a Thanksgiving Centerpiece Workshop at Evie Mae’s Barbecue! Meeting all of our guests, enjoying delicious food, and creating together was something I will never forget. I was so blessed to find Hannah of Hannah Woodfin Photography to partner with for this event. I’m ready to share our pictures from that night and tell y’all all about how fun it was!One of the most (if not THE most) important things about hosting anything is having good food. This was easy, because Evie Mae’s Barbecue provided the food and drinks for our event and everything they do is amazing. Also, everything is gluten free in their restaurant, which is an added bonus for a lot of people! I am not gluten intolerant and I can’t even tell the difference. This has nothing to do with the workshop, but their cheesecake with caramel drizzle is the best thing in the whole world. Ever.
Also, you can buy one of those adorable letterboards in our online store! After everyone found their seats, I pulled out the teacher inside of me and gave a quick run-down of what I think is important when arranging flowers. I also explained the general concept and design of what they’d be working on. Color, shape, and texture are the three design elements that I like to focus all of my work around. We started by choosing our foliage and greens. This can be intimidating, but all of our guests did an AWESOME job! There was a lot of variety to choose from, so they had a lot of fun letting loose and picking their favorites. We built a base with our greens and formed our shape. When I started working with flowers, I always started with my big blooms first. I’ve found that it is a lot easier to form my shape by using greenery first. Then we added our flowers! It was so cool to see these amazing women create and grow in their confidence as the night progressed. These women were so stinking fun and so great to work with! I loved meeting them and learning with them.Thank you to all of these wonderful women for coming! I had such a blast with you! If you are a West Texas local, keep your eyes peeled for our 2018 workshops! A special thank you to Evie Mae’s Barbecue and Hannah Woodfin Photography!
