I’m excited to share our Christmas decorations this year! Our house is cozy (fancy word for small) and there aren’t a lot of surfaces to set things, so our decorations are very simple and are mostly found in the front of the house. So, I’m excited to show you what I did this year with our little space!
I have been slowly trying to work more color into my decor this year after a sweet and sassy pre-teen told me my house was boring and needed more color. With Porter actually understanding Christmas this year, I knew I wanted to step away from my white and grey and incorporate more fun and color this year.
I LOOOOOOVVVVEEEE our tree this year! We went to the same Christmas tree farm that we went to last year and cut down our own Afghan Pine. This tree stands up well in dry climates, which is perfect for West Texas. I love the Charlie Brown-esque-ness of the tree. It really is perfect.
I invested in some colorful shatter-proof ornaments and am so glad I did. Someone we know (Porter) is a psycho and breaks everything. Shatter-proof is in our future for the next 10 years. At least. Luckily, Hobby Lobby has some bomb shatter-proof ornaments and I love them. Also, check out that ornament Porter made at his little school last year. My mom says it’s creepy. I think it’s awesome.
I got my tassel on this year and I’m in love! I would share a tutorial on how to DIY your own yarn tassels but nope. Look it up on Pinterest. They are super easy. I loved making them myself, because there are so many colors of yarn to choose from!
I found these plain stockings on Walmart.com and personalized them with some wood letters from Hobby Lobby. If I could live at Hobby Lobby, I would. I also found the cute pom-poms at Hobby Lobby. And the trees? Hobby Lobby. Nutcracker? Hobby Lobby.
I also put a little stuffing inside of the stockings so they don’t look completely flat. I put Porter in charge of that job. He did one and then scattered the rest of the stuffing around the house. That was super fun to clean up.
I made my own wreaths again this year and don’t think I can ever go back to artificial wreaths. I hung them all around the house and used command hooks to hang them on bedroom doors and in the dining room window. Command hooks are SOOO awesome! They are seriously magic.
I tied a little bow to add a pop of color. Side-note, I buy my ribbon from Anastasia Marie, a shop on Etsy. If you haven’t checked her stuff out, you really really really need to. Really. Hand-dyed ribbon that is beautiful and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Whaaaaaaaat??? How did this get in here? My favorite Christmas decoration this year!
I hope you all have a great Christmas season and are able to reflect on Christ and the wonderful gift He is to this world. Christmas is so much more than celebrating His birth. It is celebrating His life, His miracles, and His great sacrifice. I know He lives. Merry Christmas!
